Planning The Playground Games For Children

By Enid Hinton

Playground activities are one of the many effective ways to be able to teach kids how to survive in life. Now if one is a teacher of preschool or kindergarten, he should make sure that the playground games that he would plan for the kids are good and also are related to lessons in life. Here are a few good ones that are both fun and educational at the same time.

Probably the most common of all the activities that a teacher to facilitate would of course be the famous tag. Tag is the game wherein there is one it who will try to tag another person so that the other person will become the it. This is a great game to tire out the students because it involves a lot of running and it also teaches them cooperation.

A classic game would be tug of war and it is actually quite a simple game that would teach a lot of principles in life. Basically, the class would be split into two teams and each team has to pull the rope to their side in order to beat the other team. This would teach the kids that no matter how strong one is, nothing can beat a team working together.

Now yet another fun and tiring game would be piggy in the middle or monkey in the middle. Now there are two teams on the right and left side of the field that are trying to hit a guy in the middle. The guy in the middle is supposed to avoid being hit by a ball that the two teams would be throwing at him otherwise he will be out.

Now claim the flag is a very fun game that would not only teach teamwork but strategy as well. Now the class will first form two teams with each team having their own team flag. The objective of the game is for one team to get the flag of the other team and not to get tagged by any opposing team member otherwise they will be sent to jail.

Now croquet is one fun game that does not require much running and is good for the less sporty children. Basically, two or probably more players have to hit balls of different colors into some hoops with a croquet stick. This is a game that can actually teach tactical ability.

Now dodgeball is yet another great game but it is probably better for the older children who are more sporty. Dodgeball teaches quick thinking, teamwork, and encourages one to boost up his reflexes. Basically, the rules of the game is for a team to grab as many balls as possible and to hit the players of the opposing team with these balls until they are all out.

So basically, those are some of the fun games that children can play during play time. Now a teacher should always make sure that after that he would tell the students the purpose of playing the game right after. This will help them know some life lessons and also be able to apply them as well.
