What You Really Should Know Regarding Skin Mole Removal

By Don Lee

Skin mole removal is something which you can have done either at home or using surgical options which can be explained to you by a doctor. They can then refer you to either a plastic surgeon if the treatment is to be cosmetic or to a dermatologist whose specialty is skin.

If you're thinking about a removal performed at home you'll need to first buy a mole removal cream, several of which can be purchased at a pharmacists or from an online store. When you've done this make sure that you take the time to properly read the instructions which you'll stick to. These are generally easy to understand and straight forward.

First make sure the area has been appropriately cleaned then dried. One this has happened you need to scratch the surface of the mole itself with a needle so that the cream can penetrate the skin. You then apply it to the region and it is kept on for the required time. This leads to the formation of a scab which happens between one and two days later. In time the scab will fall off as a normal scab would. Generally there are no lasting marks and it's easily done.

When you put on a cream like this you might feel a slight prickling in your skin as it begins it's magic. This will only cause the mildest of discomforts and shows you that this area is being worked on to help banish it and make the appearance of this specific part much better.

If you want things done medically there are several options which you can try. Surgery for removal is done either using excision followed by stitches, cauterization or by having it shaved off. These are all fast and can be performed with ease.

These should only really be considered if the blemish is causing you real medical problems as there are problems even with the most routine of surgeries and they can also be very costly so make sure you've taken this into consideration.

There is also laser removal which is less likely to have side effects. In this procedure the area is numbed and the mole is removed using lasers. This is also expensive but is another option that you could think about. Before making any snap decisions you should consider the option which is best for your health and never have surgery until you have discussed it with a medical professional.
